Taking Off The Colored Glasses

Over 21 million Indians were diagnosed with disabilities in 2001. The number is much greater today. We are surrounded by disabilities, and yet most of us are unable to look in the eyes of these people without being crass or pitiful. Why is it so? Why can’t we respect these people when we could just as easily be in their place? Even in today’s world, children with learning disabilities are frowned upon and tormented, and most go years undiagnosed. Why is it that we as the youth can’t assist our peers with learning disabilities to overcome the challenges they are posed with instead of creating more challenges for them?

This group of people is estranged from life as we know it, and everyone should know just what they have to do to unite these two seemingly different sections of society.
