Time, Money and You

"Time is money." These are the words of Benjamin Franklin. In his 84 years, he not only became a prominent politician and diplomat, but also an actor, musician, inventor, and satirist. But if time indeed is money, how is it that all 84-year-olds don’t go out the way Benjamin Franklin did? The answer lies in the elusive theory of time management.

Good morning! I am Shreya Jain from class 11A. Today I will speak about time management and its influence on a student's life.

Before I tell you what time management is, let me tell you what it is not. Time management is NOT spending six consecutive hours a day on accomplishing a goal. Time management is NOT begetting 100% productive days in which there is no room for entertainment or fun. Time management is planning how to distribute your time between specific motions- entertainment, work, or otherwise.

Good time management enables you to work smarter - not harder- to get more done in less time, even when time is tight and pressure high- which is the typical work atmosphere in a student's life.

How can you better manage your time? First, chalk down how you spend your days, and then how you should ideally spend them. Then, strike a balance between the two. In no time, you'll see lesser anxiety and more efficiency imbibe themselves in your life.

As Stephen Covey once said, "The key is in not spending time, but in investing it." Thank you.
