My Favorite TED Talks

In the world we now live in, the power to communicate with people, within seconds is at the tip of our fingers, literally, with the smartphones we now own. Today, wishing to be alone for a few minutes is \not thought of as solitude but often, as loneliness. ‘The Power of Introverts’ by Susain Cain at TED2012 is one of my many favorites as it features the astounding power that introverts can have in this society, and how it is often suppressed by the very same society's disdainful ideals of popularity holding the chalice to intellect.

Another TED talk that I really like is ‘The Puzzle of Motivation’ by Dan Pink, which re-establishes the way we as people living in the 21st century need to be motivated to achieve success in the 21st century. It not only completely demerits the present sticks and carrots approach to goals, but also suggests scientifically proven solutions to efficiently solve 21st-century problems, which I have, after applying in my life, found extremely insightful.

The TED talk I most definitely like the best is ‘The Happy Secret to Better Work’ by Shawn Achor, originally a TEDx talk, because of the contemporary way in which it links hard work with happiness and success. Traditionally, we are taught that harder we work, the more successful we are, leading to us being happier, but Achor challenges this specious statement by saying that what actually impacts happiness is positivity. This contradiction is cherished by me because it adds value to my noble claims of hard work not necessarily leading to happiness.
