The Flamingo
5 sightless men
Went on a cruise
Met a flamingo
Unlike the ones in zoos
One said it ain’t
An animal at all
Touched its feet
And called it a stem, tall
Another stroked the wings,
Claimed that it was soft.
A flower petal maybe,
From a lofty croft.
The tiny, round and firm
The knees of the bird,
Like seeds of a plant
Clutched by the third
The 4th exclaimed,
“Oh my my,
This neck is a pipe!”
As his hand went by.
The last pricked his hand,
On the prickly beak,
Called it a needle,
As if it was antique.
And so they rambled on,
Refusing to forfeit
Fighting over a beast
That none of them had seen.
